Are The Workouts You Are Doing Enough?
Monday Mar 01, 2021
Monday Mar 01, 2021
Episode 38 is a conversation about workouts and feeling like your workouts aren't enough. Jacqueline received a comment on an Instagram post talking about a "workout with me video" that she posted to youtube and that comment inspired this week's Never Too Late to Fly episode. Jacqueline talks about where she started with exercise and movement at over 500 pounds and why 5 minutes was enough and how those same 5 minutes are what led to her being able to go to a gym, join a class and follow her own training program now that gyms have been closed due to COVID-19. We talk about how the only person you should be comparing yourself to is yourself as well as why the opinions of others shouldn't determine your actions. When we allow other people's opinions to determine our actions we don't always remember to do what is best for us. Both of us wanted to share that it is so very important to do what you are capable of while at the same time pushing yourself against your comfort zone. When you are trying to better yourself against yourself you will have a much easier time silencing those critics who may not think you are doing enough or that what you are doing wouldn't work for them. We hope that you find it in you to do whatever workouts are best for you and not to worry if someone else doesn't find your workout challenging or doesn't feel like that workout pushes you enough. Challenge yourself and compete with yourself and success will find you.

Episode 37 is an episode reflecting on Jacqueline's Birthday that passed on Saturday. We talk about the progress that she has been making in regards to her eating disorder and relationship with food. We dig deep as to what she has been doing to see this progress. Jacqueline talks about how talking with her family before her big day led both them and her to know what they should expect in regards to food and meals. Jacqueline shares how having this conversation ahead of time helped her have success on the day of instead of the added stress and anxiety caused by others asking what are we having for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. As someone who is trying to recover from a binge eating disorder, it is a success to enjoy meals throughout the day without having major binges, anxiety, or restriction. Jacqueline looks at her birthday as a bow on top of her progress because of how she felt about the way the day played out and really helped her to see and feel the validation that she is without a doubt making progress with overcoming this eating disorder. We hope that this conversation about Jacqueline's progress gives anyone who may find themselves struggling to know that it is possible to make progress.

Being in a Relationship at 500+ pounds. How do you talk about losing weight?
Monday Feb 15, 2021
Monday Feb 15, 2021
Episode 36 digs deep into being in a relationship at over 500 pounds. Jacqueline discusses some of what she was struggling with as she was in a relationship while also trying to figure out her own self-image and weight issues. We talk about how our relationship helped Jacqueline to be able to love herself and how the love we had for each other pushed her to make those changes for herself. We also talk about how in order to make big and lasting changes it is important to be making those changes because you want them and not because you are trying to please someone else. It doesn't matter if this person is family or a boyfriend or girlfriend if you are changing because someone else wants you to that can be dangerous and also your results may not be lasting or sustainable. Your situation and relationship will grow and evolve and maybe you find that person is no longer a part of your life, does that mean you just give up on the goals because the reason you were changing is no longer there? No, change for yourself and compare yourself to you, and make sure that you are moving towards where you want to go even if they are small steps because YOU want to change. We also discuss what we feel is the best way to help someone that you love and care about if you want to help them lose weight. That is NEVER an easy conversation to have and our first-hand experience with this will hopefully be insightful as to how you can try and have that conversation with someone you love and care for.

In episode 35, we talk about Jacqueline's 300-pound weight loss journey. Her journey was so much more than just losing weight. There were so many areas of her life that drastically changed because of weight loss. Jacqueline changed not just physically, but mentally. She lost a lot, but what she gained is so much more. She regained her life. This episode dives deep into Jacqueline's life at 500 pounds, and how much her weight loss journey changed her life forever. We talk about her challenges both physically and mentally from weighing over 500 pounds, what life was like after she lost her first 50 pounds, and how she continued on her journey to live her best life possible. There are so many extreme views that people on one side, tell everyone to lose weight, and on the other side think weight loss is bad. We share why we think it is important to find the middle ground and say away from extreme views. We also discuss how doing what is best for you is always the right answer. When we choose to lose weight, if done for the right reasons and because we feel it is best for us, there is no reason why weight loss should not be celebrated. Jacqueline has so much to celebrate about her weight loss journey, and how her accomplishments are nothing to be ashamed of. This episode talks about all of the positive changes that happened along Jacqueline's weight loss journey.

In episode 34 we dive into the topic of Weight Loss Surgery. Did Jacqueline have weight loss surgery to lose more than 350 pounds? Would she consider having weight loss surgery now? We answer these questions as well as everything in between regarding weight loss surgery. The decision to have weight loss surgery or not have weight loss surgery is very personal. Ultimately we feel that weight loss surgery is a tool that can be helpful in the right situation. However, we do not believe that weight loss surgery is some magic spell that will help you overcome an eating disorder, mental challenges, or make you happy and resolve any other challenges that you may be facing. Weight loss is hard no matter if you choose to have surgery or not. Jacqueline shares her reasons for making the decisions she has on her own journey. She also talks about how she feels about being asked if she is having weight loss surgery now. Remember, there is no right or wrong decision here, just the one that is best for you.

In episode 33 we talk all about how Jacqueline actually found and began talking to her eating disorder therapist. We talk about how she was struggling for years before getting help since she “looked fine and healthy” on the outside. Everyone told her she lost weight and looked great. Jacqueline knew something was not right but did not know how to get the help she needed. She shares how she had to speak up and be an advocate for herself and for her mental health. We discuss what she did to get the help she needed and how she knew that this therapist was the right one for her. Jacqueline gets emotional in this episode because we dive in deep about how being open, vulnerable, and honest with yourself is the most important thing when it comes to recovery and how coming face to face with these challenges can be hard and scary, but so very important. There is no one size fits all when it comes to recovery and Jacqueline shares her path and what she is doing to help her overcome her own struggles. We know it can be scary to ask for help or admit you may be struggling, but asking for help is the strongest thing you can do.
We hope this episode gives you a little more insight into Jacqueline’s journey and how she found her eating disorder therapist and how she is continuing to keep moving forward one step at a time to live her best life possible. Hopefully, this episode can encourage you to keep doing what is best for you, how important it is to be an advocate for yourself, and to remember it’s ok not to be ok all of the time.

Overcoming Negative Comments and Opinions of Others
Monday Jan 18, 2021
Monday Jan 18, 2021
In episode 32 Jacqueline and Kevin have a conversation about negative comments thoughts and feelings. We discuss different ways to try and overcome negative comments from others. We talk about how it is important to look within yourself when you find yourself feeling a little down from some comments that someone else made toward you. It is not easy by any means but it is very important to think about making the choices and decisions that are best for you. It's also important to remember that many times the comments that are being made tell you more about the person making them than you. For someone to make negative comments about someone else and put it out there publicly they must not be very happy and content with themselves. It is not easy and negative comments hurt but we can look inward and use them to refocus on ourselves. We hope that our conversation can serve as a reminder that when you find yourself facing some negativity that it is okay that it may hurt or make you feel upset. We hope it also reminds you that you can shake off those negative feelings to keep pushing toward your goals.

Letting the Success of Others Determine Your Plan and Success
Monday Jan 11, 2021
Monday Jan 11, 2021
In episode 31, we talk all about not being so desperate to change, that you will do anything that anybody else is doing to see changes in yourself. Jacqueline started a new journey on WW and is doing great. She has however been getting a lot of messages from others telling her that they are joining WW because of her success. While Jacqueline is happy to have others joining her on WW, she also wants to remind everyone that what truly matters is doing what is best for you. Picking a plan that is best for your needs, where you are in your health and fitness journey, and not just doing what everyone else is doing. There are so many different diets, programs, and plans out there that promise weight loss. For so many of us, we want to change so badly that we are willing to try anything. What's important to remember is not just picking something that you think will help you lose weight fastest or because it's the new "fad, but doing your research and truly figuring out what is going to be best for you. There is no one size fits all and not one plan or program that works for all. In this episode we talk about Jacqueline's life prior to doing WW, and how trying every diet under the sun in hopes to lose weight added to some of her struggles now. We discuss how we must put in the work and the effort if we want to see changes and trust the process. It's never too late to live the life you always wanted. And that starts by doing what is right for you. Jacqueline is a firm believer in listening to your body and making changes that can be sustainable long term. Through her journey of extreme weight loss, to recovering from a binge eating disorder, to now dealing with weight gain and trying to lose some weight again, Jacqueline's insights and what she shares comes from her heart, having struggled herself and her first-hand experiences dealing with so many of these same issues of being so desperate to change she was willing to do anything. We also discuss how she is overcoming that mindset and continuing to do what is best for her now.

Episode 30 is a conversation surrounding Jacqueline's progress with binge eating disorder recovery and weight loss. Many people and therapists included don't believe that recovery and weight loss are possible at the same time. After a recent discussion away from the podcast, we both decided that sharing Jacqueline's recent success would bring great value to our listeners. We both truly believe when you are making the choices and decisions that are best for you and do everything in your power to reach those goals that you will be on your way to success. This conversation and these stories only go to prove that Jacqueline is capable of recovery while losing weight. We hope that this episode serves as a reminder that it's never too late to start working for those goals that you want to reach.
