Episode 49 is just a little bit different for us. This episode will be a conversation that Jacqueline had with Bri Blank-Alexander (@brihealthy) on Instagram live. Jacqueline Is Throwing Away The Scale...Sharing Some Thoughts From Therapy.
Monday Apr 26, 2021
Monday Apr 26, 2021
In episode 46, Jacqueline talks about her ever-changing relationship with the scale. After many discussions with her therapist, Jacqueline has decided that it is best for her mental health to stop weighing herself and using the scale to justify actions and behaviors. Jacqueline and her therapist talked about why the scale has played such a huge role in her journey and why some of that thinking is what may be holding her back when it comes to making progress with her mental health and recovery from her binge eating disorder. Jacqueline discusses why using the scale as a way to determine weight loss success is a dangerous and slippery slope for someone who may be struggling mentally with food and/or their weight. Jacqueline shares how her therapist explained why it is important to have different ways to measure your progress rather than using the scale as a sole determining factor in your progress. Jacqueline shares some thoughts and points that her therapist has helped her with, in hopes to help others who may find themselves on a similar journey can be inspired by what she is sharing. If you find yourself struggling with the scale as well as your weight loss journey this podcast may just be what you need in order to help you think about something different and help you on your journey.

5 Tips About Support When it Comes to Weight Loss
Monday Apr 19, 2021
Monday Apr 19, 2021
In episode 45 we discuss how to support someone on a weight loss journey. After getting asked this question, we sat down and shared a lot about how Kevin supported Jacqueline when she began her journey at 500 pounds. Jacqueline and Kevin learned a lot about what worked, what they needed to work on, and what they need to keep doing now to keep loving and showing support to one another. They talk about how communication is key, being open and honest with one another and expressing your wants and needs is so important. We cannot expect people to read our minds...so we need to communicate and listen to one another. They also discuss their views on if you should go on a diet together, not using your partner to hold you accountable for your decisions, and how shame, guilt, or dismissing the feelings of someone is never helpful. We hope that this honest conversation can share some ways that you can support someone on a weight loss journey and how if you yourself are on a weight loss journey, how you can openly and honestly ask for help and get the support you might need.

Tips for Talking About Your Weight With Your Doctor.
Monday Apr 12, 2021
Monday Apr 12, 2021
In episode 44 we discuss some tips for how to deal with doctors shaming you about your weight or size. Jacqueline has experienced various forms of shaming from her doctors nearly her entire life. Recently she found a doctor @thatgaydoctor on TikTok who shared some tips to help overcome what he calls "fatphobic providers." We share and explain some tips on how to steer the conversation how you would like it to go. Having a plan and trying to execute and control the narrative is such a key to letting your doctor know how you are feeling about your weight and what you want to talk about and what you are comfortable discussing. The primary reason for your visit will also play a big role in how you try and steer the conversation regarding stepping on the scale and your weight overall. We hope that this discussion about standing on the scale as well as conversation with your doctor can help you if you are on a weight loss journey and are worried about going to the doctor because you don't want to have the dreaded weight conversation.

Jacqueline's Journey; From the Start to Now
Monday Apr 05, 2021
Monday Apr 05, 2021
Episode 43 is a review of Jacqueline's Journey and how she finds herself where she is right now in regards to weight loss, skin removal, exercise, and everything else in between. We are truly thankful for all of the love and support that you all show us each and every week when we drop a new episode. We hope that this review of how Jacqueline got to where she is helps you no matter where you find yourself on your journey. Jacqueline discusses what diet plan she used previously with much success as well as when, why, and how she incorporated exercise into her plan for maximum weight loss success. Looking back now with her current experiences Jacqueline looks back at some points in her journey to realize that she had gone to some "unhealthy" extremes to achieve maximum weight loss at all costs. Jacqueline's Journey takes a bit of a detour when she found herself gaining weight while also recovering from excess skin removal surgeries from losing such a large amount of weight. She then goes on to share how working on her mental health with the guidance of her therapist has allowed her to reach a point where she is currently working on Binge Eating Disorder Recovery while also trying to lose a bit more weight. The episode wraps up with Jacqueline sharing about how life is about so much more than just losing weight and the number on a scale. She goes on to explain how these two pieces are not her identity and why it is important for her to share all of her other interests which include Disney, makeup, fashion, and cooking and baking. We hope that this quick overview of Jacqueline's Journey can answer any questions you may have if you are a new or seasoned listener. If you find yourself with more questions about anything please reach out via social media, we would love to help any way that we can.

In episode 41 we talk about the weight loss journey that Jacqueline is on now and how it is different than when she began her weight loss journey several years ago at 500 pounds. Jacqueline shares the top 5 differences she has noticed that are different this time around, including what may be a little more challenging, and what is somewhat easier. Jacqueline shares a lot of information about how important mental health is and how therapy is helping her so much. Having a binge eating disorder is hard, but Jacqueline opens up about this, about her weight gain and what she is doing to not only lose weight but how to hopefully keep it off this time in a healthier way and keep moving forward without so much anger, embarrassment and shame. We discuss how along our journey we are all constantly growing, changing, evolving, and learning. We discuss how we cannot be angry for the past and for not knowing then what we know now. Learning is part of the journey, making changes is ok and you never fail if you never stop trying. Jacqueline sometimes feels like she "failed" because she gained some weight, but she is learning that this time around when she is trying to lose weight, she doesn't have to start over because she failed, but this is just a continuation of her journey to being the best version of herself possible. We hope these top 5 differences Jacqueline is sharing can help inspire you to keep going on your journey and no matter what, to never give up on yourself. You can never fail if you never stop trying.

In episode 40 we talk about choosing to lose weight or not because of a fear of loose skin. This discussion also is one that touches on self-love and what that may look like for many different people. For Jacqueline, self-love meant losing weight. After Jacquline lost 350 pounds and found herself dealing with many complications due to the many pounds of loose skin covering her body she chose to have some skin removal procedures done to rid her body of those complications. Self-love looks different for everyone but everyone should be making the choices that are best for themselves. Another topic that we touch on is not allowing yourself to use the excuse of loose skin as a reason to not lose weight. If you want to lose weight go do that and worry about the loose skin if/when that happens. Don't use that fear as a reason to stay comfortable and complacent. Ultimately it is up to you to make the best choices for yourself. Don't allow those "what ifs" to hold you back from living your best life. Always be thinking about growing and bettering your life and worry about problems and possible complications as they arise.
