In episode 4 we talk about all things COVID-19 Shelter in Place, Quarantine, and Isolation. We explain how we have been affected by the shelter in place orders and what we have done to overcome the physical and mental stress that has been created as a result of us being told to stay at home. Jacqueline shares about how she initially found herself struggling with emotional eating as a way to cope with the stress and uncertainty surrounding us. We talk about how we initially reacted to these orders and how we nearly allowed situations beyond our control to cause us to spiral out of control. After she found herself making these types of decisions she forced herself to step back and look at the bigger picture in regards to making healthy lifestyle choices. After initially feeling out of control and not really being too sure of anything Jacqueline found that creating a new routine and daily plan was key to having some sense of normalcy during these uncertain times. After having our daily routine of going to the gym taken away because of the shelter in place orders we also found it important to make sure we were making time in our day to exercise and move our bodies. After we created the new routine that incorporated healthy eating and movement we found that our mental health was improving. We know that it seems so cliche to say that you need to eat good healthy food and exercise to feel better but we had first hand experience in the first few weeks of being sheltered in place that those two factors make a HUGE difference in how we think and feel. We also want to thank all of the essential workers that have kept the world going while many people have been sheltering in place. We hope that everyone stays safe as it seems that more places are starting to reopen and keeps everyone's health and safety in mind. Enjoy the episode and thanks for listening!
